Gunna Released from Jail Upon Entering Guilty Plea for YSL Rico Charges

Gunna may be returning home after several failed bond attempts. After being arrested on RICO charges, the rapper spent the majority of 2022 incarcerated. Gunna, Young Thug, and two dozen of their alleged associates have been charged with being members of a criminal organization known as YSL. However, it has been argued that YSL is a record label rather than a street gang.

Several celebrities, including Kim Kardashian, have called for Gunna's release. She emphasized that because Gunna was not charged with a violent crime, he should be granted bail. His defense team consistently tried to obtain a bond for the rapper, but the requests were repeatedly denied by a judge.

According to WSB-TV, Gunna "has pleaded guilty to a racketeering conspiracy charge," but it is unclear when he will be released. He was reportedly in court yesterday as he entered his "negotiated plea," also known as the "Alford plea," in which he pleaded "guilty on one charge because it was in his best interests while maintaining his innocence on the same charge."

The "Pushin P" hitmaker agreed to a five-year sentence, but it doesn't appear that Gunna will serve any time in prison. One year of his sentence was commuted to time served, with the rest suspended. Gunna will instead be required to comply with certain conditions, including "500 hours of community service."
